Mutterkraut (english: Fever Few, original translation: “mother’s herb” ) is a series of objects that takes the plant Tanacetum parthenium as basis for an aesthetic- considerative research. So there is a plant named after mothers, used for centuries as a fever reducer, migraine fighter and abortifacient. A herb with many caring properties. Ones that are often associated with the demands placed on mothers.
“Mother Herb” is an exploration of functions and meanings of materials and plant processes. It’s also an exploration of expectations. It expands the spectrum of ways to read “mother,” unites contrasts, brings together the unexpected and challenges notions.
