Marcia Breuer
Marcia Breuer (*1978 in Wiesbaden) completed her professional training as a classical dancer at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart and worked in the field for three years. From 2002 to 2009, she studied photography at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Her photographic and drawing works explore the intersections of human and nature, body and form. She has participated in exhibitions in Hamburg, Bremen, Chemnitz, and Munich, among others, and has published in Materialverlag and Textem Verlag. Additionally, she has conceived and organized various events and exhibitions in the (off-)art context. Alongside her artistic practice, she works as a freelance lecturer, photographer and designer.
In 2019, Marcia Breuer founded the initiative Mehr Mütter für die Kunst., which advocates for visibility and support for artist-mothers*, highlighting the structural disadvantages faced by artists with children and pushing for greater acceptance, recognition and expanded funding opportunities for them.
Marcia Breuer lives in Hamburg with her partner and their two children (born 2009 and 2011).
