Stress Simulator
2025
The first months of motherhood are marked by insomnia, malnutrition, isolation, and a complete collapse of routine. Conditions that, in other contexts, are deliberately used as methods of torture to break people down. Yet mothers are expected to endure them out of love and responsibility for their children.
I built an alarm device with a siren that simulates the intense stress response triggered by a baby’s cry. The sound evokes the instinctive urgency and anxiety that arise when your child needs something. A biological alarm that demands immediate action.
Through this work, I aim to translate the invisible psychological and physical strain of early motherhood into an experiential form, confronting the contradictions between care, exhaustion, and resilience.
